electrophysiology Flashcards
P wave
atrial depolarization
QRS complex
ventricular depolarization
T wave
ventricular repolarization
how do you find age predicted max heart rate?
age - 220
how do you find 70-85% of HR max?
age - 220 x 0.7 OR 0.85
how do you find resting heart rate?
palpate for 15 seconds then x by 4
how do you find exercise heart rate?
palpate for 10 seconds then x by 6
Premature atrial contractions (PAC)
extra or early beat in the atria
what does PAC look like on an ECG?
The extra beat will occur before the p wave (atrial depolarization)
atrial flutter
right atrium beats extra fast
what is atrial flutter also known as?
supraventricular tachycardia
AFib
atria beat chaotically and irregularly, out of sync with ventricles, most common
atrial flutter on ECG
The positive deflections that occur before the QRS complex
paroxysmal afib
only lasts 7 days
persistent afib
lasts longer than 7 days
