How does wavelength vary as you go from radio to gamma rays

How does frequency vary as you go from radio to gamma rays

How does danger vary as you go from radio to gamma

A

As you go from radio to gamma, the frequency increases

As you go from radio to gamma, the wavelength decreases.

15
Q

Why are some EM waves non ionising

A

They do not have enough proton energy to remove electrons from the shells of atoms. So they cant produce ions.

16
Q

What does ionisation lead to, and are the non ionising EM waves safe

A

Human cell mutation that can cause diseases eg, cancer. So non-ionising are relatively safe

17
Q

how many parts of the UV rays from sun is it often divided into.
And what are those parts, and what they do.

A

3 parts

UV-A = tanning which is 99% of UV light

UV-B = sunburn and skin cancer

UV-C = filtered out by atmosphere and does not reach surface of earth

18
Q

what is the process of producing X-rays

A

use electron gun, heat up filament using wire, thermionic emissions to release electrons and they are accelerated towards copper anode and reflected from metal.
