A continuous spectrum of transverse wave that transfer energy away from its source without transferring any matter at the speed of 3.0x10 power of 8 m/s in air or vaccum

What is Radio Wave and uses
Radio waves have the longest wave lengths in the electromagnetic spectrum. They are radiated from aerials and used to carry sound, pictures and other information over long distances
Used for local radio and television communication.
What is Microwave and uses
Microwaves have wavelengths of a few centimeters and are used for international telecommunications and direct broadcast satellite television, radio and even mobile cellphones communication.
It is an advantage because cover a large areas since satellite is used to redirect microwave signal from space
Infrared Radiation what is it and uses
Infrared radiation is a wave that can be detected using a thermometer or a temperature sensitive film.
It is used for houshold appliances such as ovens, toaster, electric iron.
Remote tv controllers, and intruders alarm
Visible Light and uses
Visible light can be detected by the retina of our eyes and also photographic film.
Photodiodes can also detect visible light and produce digital pictures.
This allows us to see our surrounding (vision) by providing illumination
Ultra Violet Wave
Some materials can absorb UV rays and reemit visible light. This material are called fluorcents
which can be incorporated in currency notes, documents such as passports to allow officers to detect counter theft
It can also kill bacteria and other microorganism so it can be used to steralise water to make it safe
But prolong exposure to ultra violet can cause damage to the eye causing cataract including skin cancer
X rays
X rays can be detected by a photographic film.
They are used in hospitals to provide medical imaging to build the skeleton bones an even the condition of the organs such as lungs
X rays are also used to cure cancerous cells to treat cancer patients
Gamma rays
Gamma rays can be detected by using a GM tube and a counter with aluminium sheet as a barrier
However samples that emit gamma rays can also cause cancer too, especially when the person is exposed for a long time
It can be used to diagnose certain disease and also treat cancer patient by killing cancerous cells
