Define internal resistance.

A

Internal resistance is the opposition to the flow of current by a power supply in a circuit.
All power supplies have internal resistance but in some calculations we are told to neglect this resistance to simplify the calculations.

E = IR + Ir

The quantity IR is the terminal p.d.
Ir is called the «lost voltage»
