Electricity/Circuits Flashcards
What is the symbol for a heater?
A rectangle with 4 parts or 3 lines (i cant get pictures without paying £115)
What is the symbol for a motor?
A circle with an m inside (i cant get photos without paying £115)
What is the symbol for an LDR?
The same as a resistor but with 2 arrows poining down on it from a right angle
What is current?
Current is a flow of charge
What is the thermistor symbol?
A resistor with a line going through it that goes flat at the top
What is a series circuit?
A circuit where all of the components are connected in series
What is a parallel circuit
A circuit that has components connected in branches
What is the formula to figure out the voltage in a circuit
V=IR
What is the formula to figure out the resistance
R=V/I
How do you figure out the current in a circuit
I=V/R
What can you say about the current in a series circuit?
The current is always the same as the supply current
What can you say about the current in a parallel circuit?
The current is shared between the components (all add up the the supply current)
What can you say about the voltage in a series circuit?
The voltage is shared between the components and adds up to the supply voltage
What can you say about the voltage in a parallel circuit?
The voltage is always the same as the supply voltage
How do you work out the resistance of a circuit when given the recommended voltage and supply voltage?
Vs-V=Ix(R)
(Vs-V)=Ix(R)
R=I/(Vs-V)
R=…..
What is something interesting about an LED?
The current only flows one way
What happens to resistance when light goes up on an LDR
The resistance goes down - Light Up Resistance Down (L.U.R.D)
What happens to the resistance when the temperature goes up
Resistance goes down - Temperature Up Resistance Down (T.U.R.D)
What are the symbols for; Mega, Kilo, milli and micro? (In order)
M, K, m and µ
