What does ZEDS stand for?
Zonal
Electrical
Distribution
System
What does ZEDS do?
Used to distribute electrical power from the port and stbd main buses (switchboards) to load centers arranged throughout the ship into electrical zones. This allows electrical power to be routed throughout the ship in a variety of configurations to minimize loss of power though battle damage or casualties.
What is degaussing?
Neutralizes the ship’s magnetic field as the ship moves through the water and throughout the world’s magnetic fields in order to minimize setting off a mine.
What are the four degaussing coils located throughout the ship?
M Coil
FP-QP Coil
FI-QI Coil
A Coil
How does a GTG work?
The generator consists of a rotor and a stator. As the rotor turns via the engine through the stator a magnetic field is produced which produces electrical current. This current is transferred to the switchboard and throughout the ship using the EPCC console in CCS
How much power do the GTGs produce?
3,000 Kw 450 VAC 4800 Amps 3 Phase 60 Hz
