Electric Fields Flashcards
Define electric potential at a point in space.
(Electric potential) is the work done per (unit) charge in bringing a positive charge from infinity (to the point).
State Coulombs law
F=kQq/r^2
Define electric field strength E.
Force experienced per unit positive charge at that point.
What is Coulomb’s law?
Two point charges exert an electrostatic force on each other that is directly proportional to the product of their charges and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.
Define electric potential energy for two charged particles separated by a distance r.
The work done to bring the charged particles from infinity to a separation r.
Describe the electric field within around a positive sphere of uniform density.
Charge distributes itself evenly within the sphere. E = 0, and V = constant.
