Electric Currents Flashcards
How do objects become charged with static electricity
Objects become charged and the charge builds up on an object and it doesn’t move example rubbing a rod
What is static electricity
Static is potential energy. It does not move. It is stored. The effect will only be noticed on insulators
What is the differences between conductors and insulators
Conductors are materials which electric currents can flow through easily. Insulators are materials which electronic current cannot move through
What are the dangers of electricity
If enough charge builds up due to friction then a spark will form. A spark is a charge moving through the air and heating it. We see light and hear a sound. In a lightening storm if a person is stuck they can break bones, get burns or even be killed.
What happens when you take a photo
When you take a photograph a light is taken from the objects travels to the camera and is refracted by the lens, forming an image on the film.
What is a CCD
A CCD is the light sensor in the camera it translates the information that includes the colour and information of the light that the CCD has picked up
What does the captivator do
A captivator s a sensor that detects and transports information that is part of an image. It does so b y covering the variable reduction of waves as they pass or of objects into signals and small bursts of current
How do you test for electric current
You use an ammeter
What are the properties of a series circuit
Components are linked in one path, if the circuit is broken the components turn off, as more lights are added to the circuit the dimmer the lights will get, in series there is only one path way
Properties of a parallel circuit
A parallel circuit has two or more paths for current to flow through, voltage is the same across each component of the parallel circuit, the sum of the currents through each path is equal
Similarities between a series circuit and a parallel circuit
They both convert electrical energy to light and heat
Differences between a series and apparelled circuit
A series circuit has only one path way, in a series circuit the current is the same anywhere, in a series circuit if one bulb dies all of them stop
Definition of voltage
An electromotive force or potential difference
Unit meanings
Volts and amps
What are the types of charge
Static and current
