What is a candidate?

Name the 1st half of the prerequisites for a candidate
- Eighteen years and over
- Citizen of no other country
- Has resided in Trinidad and Tobago for a period of two years immediately before the date of their nomination for election
- Be nominated by at least 6 registered electors
Name the 2nd half of the prerequisites for a candidate
- register and pay a deposit before they can start their campaign
- No records of bankruptcy
- Must be in good mental Health
- Must not be serving a prison/death sentence
what is the aim of the campaign
To sway voters to elect a particular candidate
What does each candidate/ political party issue?
they issue a manifesto. The document informs electors of the party’s position and plays for the constituency
What is the variety of methods that candidates use to gather support
Political rallies, speeches, meet and greet constituencies, use social media, advertising and electronic and print media or tokens/jerseys
