A
MDT Documentation History Examination Safeguarding referral ---> MASH MCA section 44 ---> criminal offence to mistreat/neglect ill

What is the decision flowchart for investigating suspected elder abuse
A
- Inform ward manager
- Request examination by registrar or above
- Inform consultant
- Vulnerable adult/child involved
- Inform safeguarding team
- Phone ‘safeguarding adults referral’ to social services
- Inform family
- Carefully document everything
- Complete trust incident form
- Do not discharge until MDT has agreed an appropriate plan
