Elbow Ligaments Flashcards
Describe the shape of the joint’s articular surfaces in relation to the type of joint and the physiological movements available
A synovial, hinge joint. Articulation between the trochlea surface and capitulum of the humerus and trochlear notch of the ulna and head of the radius.
Ulnar collateral origin
Medial epicondyle
Ulnar collateral insertion
Medial aspect of coronoid process and olecranon of ulna
Ulnar collateral movement restriction
Limits valgus forces on the elbow
Radial collateral origin
Lateral epicondyle of the humerus
Radial collateral insertion
Margins of the radial notch and ulna
Radial collateral limit to movement
Limits varus forces on the elbow
Radial collateral fibre direction
Strong triangular band extending horizontally
