Bony Points Flashcards
Iliac crest
Curved area at the top of the ilium bone
Psis
Rounded protrusion
Ischial tuberosity
Round protrusion extending from the ischium
Greater trochanter
Rounded most proximal part of the femur
Adductor tubercle
Bony protuberance sometimes sore
Lateral epicondyle of femur
Most superficial point on the lateral femoral condyle- Knuckle shaped
Medial femoral epicondyle
Most superficial point of the condyle of femur- knuckle shaped
Head of fibula
Rounded most proximal end of fibula
Tibial tuberosity
Flat and smooth on the anterior surface of the tibia
Medial malleolus
Rounded most superficial point on the distal end of the tibia. The lateral side is an articulating surface that makes up the talocrural joint.
Lateral malleolus
Rounded most superficial point at the distal end of the fibula.
Sustentaculum tali of the calcaneus
Bony horizontal ridge extending from the medial side of the calcaneus bone.
Navicular tuberosity
Blunt projection on the medial side of the navicular - site of insertion for the tibialis posterior.
Base of 5th
Rounded bony protrusion on the lateral side of the foot.
Spine of scapula
Bony ridge on the posterior aspect of the scapula.
Acromion process
Rectangular shape bone on the upper lateral shoulder, part of the scapula.
Acromion angle
Bony protrusion felt as a corner.
Coracoid process
Fingerlike protrusion of the scapula felt anteriorly.
Inferior angle of the scapula
Rounded point on most inferior parts of scapula - medial and inferior borders meet.
Humerus greater tubercle
Rounded most lateral part of the head of the humerus.
Humerus lesser tubercle
Rounded, more medial part of the head of the humerus, medial to intertubercular groove.
Bicipital groove
Groove / dip in bone on head of humerus
Medial epicondyle
Bony protrusion most superficial point on the medial condyle - knuckle shaped.
Lateral epicondyle of humerus
Bony protrusion on the lateral condyle of the humerus - knuckle shaped.
