A 5-year-old child presents with a painful right elbow. The mother says that the child was attempting to cross a busy road and she grabbed hold of his hand and quickly pulled him back. Since then, the child has refused to move the elbow. On examination, the child’s right elbow is partly flexed and slightly pronated. X-ray of the elbow shows a subluxation of the proximal radioulnar joint.
