elbow Flashcards
Elbow joint
synovial uniaxial hinge joint
Articular surface
the humero-ulnar articulation
the trochlea of the distal humerous articulates with the trochlear notch of the ulna
humero-radial joint
capiitulum of distal humerous to concave head of radius
all covered in hyaline cartilage
Capsule
encloses the joint surronds the supeior radioulnar joint
supeiorally attachted to the margins of the coronoid and radial fossae and capitulum inferiorally attached to edge of coronoid process and annular ligament
medially and laterally reinforced by collateral ligament.
not directly attacted to the radius
posteriorly to olecranon fossae, olecranon process and annular ligament
synovial memebrane
lines the capsule and the cornoid, radial and olecranon fossae
medial (ulnar) collateral ligament
3 bands from the medial epicondyle
anterior band
to the tubercle of coronoid process
posterior band
to olecranon process
transverse band bridges the bands
lateral (Radial) colleteral ligament
lateral epicondyle blending with the annular ligament
annular ligament
stabilises radio ulna joint encircles head of the radius
cubitial fossa
latteral border is the mediial border of brachioradialis
medial border is the lateral border of pronator teres
superior border line between epicondyles
content- radial nerve biceps tendon brachial artery medial nerve
