EKG Definitions Flashcards
1
Q
P wave
A
depolarization of the atria (both left and right).
2
Q
QRS complex
A
the depolarization of the ventricles (both left and right).
3
Q
T wave
A
the repolarization of the ventricles.
4
Q
U wave
A
the repolarization of the Purkinjee fibers
5
Q
R-R interval
A
measures the time between two cardiac cycles
6
Q
PR interval
A
- beginning of the P wave and ends at the beginning of the QRS complex.
- It represents the amount of time taken by the electrical signal to be generated from the SA node and to travel across the atria and reach the ventricles.
- It is normally 120 to 200 milliseconds.
7
Q
ST segment
A
represents the early part of ventricular repolarization
8
Q
QT interval
A
- from the Q of the QRS complex and finishes after the T wave.
- It measures the time taken for the ventricles to depolarize and then repolarize.
