morality and human values, what is it?
for a moral value to be useful, it has to align with what we value, what motivates us, and what we are capable of doing.
what is psychological egoism?
only being motivated by self interest. not everything we do will benefit us, but everything we do, we do with the aim that it will benefit us.
what are challenges to egoism?
not knowing for sure what other people’s intentions or motives are.
what is psychological altruism?
choosing to do things because it could possibly benefit another person.
what is unfalsifiability and falsifiability?
falsifiability is a posited criterion for distinguishing scientific from unscientific claims.
what is predominant egoism?
we truly altruistic in only a narrow few cases.
what is ethical egoism?
stating that moral agents ought to act in such a way as to maximize their own self-interest.
