What are the protected classes?
A
Race, color, gender, religion, sex orientation, national origin, marital status, age, disability, medical condition, pregnancy. Protects against hostile work environments.

Supervisor responsibilities?
A
- Educate and train employees on EEO policy.
- Monitor the workplace for violations or potential violations.
- Stop the behavior.
- Manage the effect of a complaint to make sure retaliation is not occurring.
- Follow through with the complaint by taking immediate documented and corrective action.
- Consult the EEO liaison in Fiscal.

Reporting procedure
A
Employees must file a complaint for the violation within 180 days.

Where can complaints be filed?
A
- Chain of command.
- City Equal Opportunity Department
- AZ Civil Rights Division of the AG’s Office
- US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission

Informal reporting process
A
- Mediation and resolution
- Harassment and discrimination complaints and concerns will be addressed immediately
- Request will be reviewed by PSB commander and EEO liaison to make sure informal process is appropriate
- Supervisor will meet with the complainant to discuss the incident and requested resolution.
- Immediate corrective action to ensure the offensive behavior stops
- Discrimination/harassment report control form will be completed and sent to PSB for approval.
- Supervisor will follow up 30-60 days from resolution to ensure the behavior has stopped and no retaliation

Formal reporting process
A
- Once a claim has been filed, the PSB commander and EEO liaison will determine if chain of command, PSB or outside agency will investigate.
- If chain of command conducts the investigation, completed investigation will be forwarded to PSB
- Employee under investigation can have union representation
- Investigation will be completed within 90 days
- Findings will be classified in Ops Orders 3.19
