Describe Henry VIII’s religious legacy.
A
Was essentially a Catholic but changed to Protestantism for own benefit. Six Articles moves back towards Catholicism but without the Pope (Break from Rome)

- 6 Articles was fully in place
- Royal visitation

What were royal visitations?
A
- Churches were investigated by officials. Church authority was suspended until these were complete.

What changes were made under the removal of Catholicism?
A
- Book of Homilies and Paraphrases. Gardiner objected and was imprisoned
- Royal injunctions (orders to preach in English and remove superstitious images)
- Chantries act revived dissolution for chantries.

- Act of 6 Articles repealed 1547
- Treason Act repealed to remove heresy laws (freed protestants to speak)
- Proclamations to dampen protestant unrest
- Removal of images from Churches Feb 1548
