Describe Henry VIII’s religious legacy.

A

Was essentially a Catholic but changed to Protestantism for own benefit. Six Articles moves back towards Catholicism but without the Pope (Break from Rome)

  • Book of Homilies and Paraphrases. Gardiner objected and was imprisoned
  • Royal injunctions (orders to preach in English and remove superstitious images)
  • Chantries act revived dissolution for chantries.
