- To provide secondary education (extending the age of leave from 14)
- offering free education and allowing everyone a chance into grammar, secondary modern and technical schools by overturning the ‘11-plus’ exam.

A
- A comprehensive school is a school for children of all abilities over the age of 11.
- do not select intake on the basis of academic achievement.
- They are also paid for by the state.
