The hidden curriculum
Correspondence principle operates through this 'Lessons' that are learnt in school without being directly taught simply through the everyday workings of the school eg students become accustomed to accepting hierarchy and competition Schooling prepares the working class for the role of exploited workers
Myth of meritocracy
Meritocracy- everyone has an equal opportunity to achieve rewards that are based on ability and effort and those that gain the highest deserve them because they are the most able and hard working, this is a myth because loads of aspects of the education system contribute to someone’s ability and future
Correspondence principle

(3) extrinsic satisfaction from grades represents extrinsic satisfaction from pay
(4) competition and division amongst students and later on workers
(5) levels of education reflects on levels of occupational structure
