Comprehensive school
Based on the idea of one type of school for all children living in the area
Meritocracy
Individuals rewarded on the basis of their talent, merit or ability rather than their social background
Private school
A school you pay to go to unless the school gives you a scholarship
Hidden curriculum
Attitudes, values & behaviour which students learn in-directly in school.
Not part of the syllabus for a subject
Material deprivation
Lack of income which prevents poorer children from fulfilling their true potential
Cultural deprivation
Students do not have the support from parents towards their education
Cultural difference
Not deprived at home but simply brought up with different values to that of values of the school
