what is a user group
your user group is who your educational program is for - they are your audience
three types of user groups
- regular users
- new users
- occasional users
regular users
frequently visit the facility or use the resources on a regular basis. E.g a member at a gym
new users
a person who has never accessed the facility or used the resources before. E.g someone signing up to the gym for the first time
occasional users
someone who infrequently accesses the facility or uses the equipment and resources. E.g a person who only goes to the gym during the winter or once every month or so
what type of guidance do these user groups need
new users - need a lot of guidance and direction (e.g show them how to use all of the equipment and tell them the gym rules)
occasional users - may need reminders or refreshers on rules and how to use equipment
regular users - only need limited instructions, unless there has been a change they need to know of
how might you identify issues

when creating educational materials you need to consider
- language used (words, tone and complexity)
- using visuals
what is a presentation technique
a strategy for presenting your educational program that will be the most effective for your particular user group
when selecting a presentation technique you need to consider
- who is your user group

- cultural and linguistic barriers
- disabilities and learning difficulties
- budget and time availability
