Edocrine system Flashcards
Tropic hormone stimulates the secretion of thyroid hormones
Thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH)
Tropic hormone, stimulates secretion of adrenal cortex horomones
Adrenocortictropic(ACTH)
Tropic hormone, male- stimulates seminiferous tubules of testes to grow and produce sperm. Female-Stimulates development of ovarian follicles and secretion of estrogens
Follicle-Stimulating hormone (FSH)
Stimulates growth in all organs; mobilizes nutrient molecules, causing an increase in blood glucose concentration
Growth hormone(GH)
Stimulates breast development during pregnancy, and milk secretion(milk letdown) after pregnacy
Prolactin (PRL)
Stimulates retention of water by the kideys
Antidiuretic hormone (ADH)
inhabits the breakdown of bone causes decrease in blood calcium concentration
Calcitonin (CT)
Stimulates breakdown of bone, causes increase in blood calcium concentration
Parathyroid (PTH)
Increase in blood glucose concentration
Glucagon
Decrease in blood glucose concentration
Inslin
Promotes development and maintenance of female sexual characteristics.
Estrogen
Promotes development and maintenance of make sexual characteristics
Testosterone
Helps regulate body internal clock
Meletonin
Regulates fluid and electro-light homeostasis
Artial natruaric horomone (ANH)
