Why does Edinburgh need traffic management?
A
- Major route centre in the east if Scotland (lots of ppl need to go on the bypass if travelling around this area, can lead to congestion)
- Insufficient parking (results in people parking in residential areas near the CBD which disturbs/annoys locals)
- Illegally parked vehicles - (can lead to blocked roads, and driveways covered which leads to increased journey times and am increased chance of accidents)
- Tourism - (events such as tattoo and fringe attract millions of tourists to specific parts of the city e.g old town. Puts huge pressure on transports services and makes it harder for locals to get around)
- Not enough public transport - (this leads to people using cars more often as the public transport isn’t meeting demands)
