ask re asthma, hayfever, allergies
if infection - swab skin

no investigations needed but:
serum IgE - raised
skin prick or RAST

conjunctivitis + blepharitis

infection:
staph aureus - pustules, yellow crusty sores
herpes simplex - eczema herpeticum - emergency
