Adaptation
A structure of behavior that allows a species to survive and reproduce in its environment
Species
The same general physical characteristics
Community
Organisms that live together in an ecosystem
Abiotic

Niche
The role that each species plays in its community

Population
All the organisms of the same kind of community
Habitat
A place in which an organism lives
Biome
Regions of the world with similar climates, animals, and plants
Taiga
The largest biome on Earth
Deciduous Forest
Majority of trees are deciduous (they lose their leaves in the Winter)
Rainforest
Has about 50% of the worlds animal population
Grasslands
Manly grass with a few scattered trees
Desert
Covers about 1/5 of the Earth. Very little rainfall
Tundra
Covers about 1/5 of the Earth. Coldest biome on Earth. Nicknamed the “cold desert”.
Decomposer
Organisms that consume dead plants or animals
Consumer
Organisms that get energy by eating consumers or producers
Producer
Organisms that use the Sun’s energy to make food
Omnivore
Animals that eat both plant and animals
Carnivore
Animals that eat meat
Herbivore
Animals that eat plants
Food Web
A group of interconnected food chains
Food Chain
Organisms that are each dependent on each other as a source of food
