Biosphere
Part of the planet containing living organisms
Ecosystem
A group of organisms that interact with their environment
Habitat
A place where a plant or animal lives
Population
All members of the same species living in an area
Community
All the members of different population in an area
Niche
The functional role an organism plays in the community
Scramble competition
A struggle for a resource in limited supply
Pollution
Any harmful addition to the environment
Conservation
management of the environment
Primary Consumers
Animals that feed on producers
Secondary Consumers
Animals that feed on primary consumers
Tertiary Consumers
Animals that feed of secondary consumers
Food Chain
Sequence of organisms in which each one is eaten by the next member of the chain
Trophic level
A feeding stage in a food chain
Food Web
Consists of two or more interconnected food chains
Pyramid of numbers
Number of organisms at each trophic level
Predation
The catching, killing and eating of another organism
Parasitism
Two organisms of different species live close to each other and one organism obtains its food from the other organism causing it harm.
