Species:
A group of organisms that can breed to produce fertile offspring
Habitat:
Is the place where an organism lives
Population:
Is a group of individuals of one species
Community:
Is made up of all the living organisms in an ecosystem
Biodiversity:
The variation that exists within a species.
Also describes the variation between different species
Producer:
A green plant which can make/produce it’s own food through photosynthesis
Consumer:
Can not produce it’s own food so it has to consume other animals and/or plants for energy
Herbivores:
Only eats plant material
Carnivore:
Only eats meat material
Omnivore:
Eats both meats and plants
Predator:
Hunts food/animals
Prey:
Gets hunted
Niche:
The role a species plays in its community
Biome:
A large area which is designated by its climate (arctic, ocean, deserts)
Indicator species:
Species that by their presence or absence indicate environmental quality/levels of pollution
