ECG Lab Flashcards
exercise?
exercise: exercise increases heart rate
exercise to rest: heart rate goes down but not to resting value
PR wave
PR: not much change. Depolarization of atria. this can’t change as then the ventricles and atria contracting at the same time which can’t happen
TP wave
TP
- time interval must shorten to fit in more beats to supply more oxygen to body
TP: diastole of all chambers.
Why does it happen
- using more muscles so you use more oxygen and glucose for energy through cellular respiration
- removal of waste means that body must still pump oxygen to muscles so heart rate is still high but not as high
PR wave
depolarization of atria
QRS
depolarization of ventricles (repolarization of atria happens at the same time)
T wave
repolarization of ventricles
systole and diastole
PQ is atrial systole (flat part between p and q)
RT: ventricular systole
everywhere there is not systole. there is diastole.
AV Node special ability
AV node holds the signal for a bit to allow atria to finish contracting before ventricles.
