ECG Flashcards
Which leads look at the heart in a vertical plane?
Limb leads
Which leads look at the heart in a horizontal plane?
Chest leads
If you see changes in V1-V6, where is the problem?
Anterior aspect of the heart
What does ST depression on an ECG imply?
Unstable angina
If you see changes in V1-V6 and lead 1, where is the problem?
Anterolateral surface of the heart
What implies sinus rhythm?
P waves follwed by a QRS complex
Most of the R wave should be seen in lead 2. If there is a very tall R wave in lead 1 and a small/negative R wave in leads 2 and 3, what does this imply?
Left axis deviation
Most of the R wave should be seen in lead 2. If there is a very tall R wave in lead 3 and a small/negative R wave in leads 2 and 1, what does this imply?
Right axis deviation
You see ST elevation in leads V1-V4. What does this imply?
Anterior STEMI probably in the LAD
What is the cause of a double (bifit) P wave on an ECG?
Enlanged atria due to mitral stenosis
When is the PR interval timed from?
The beginning of P to the start of Q
When is the QT interval timed from?
The start of Q to the end of T
A very short PR interval with a delta wave is typical of what?
Wolf Parkinson White syndrome.
What are the causes of left axis deviation?
Left ventricular hypertrophy, anything causing left ventricular strain eg ischemia
What are the causes of right axis deviation?
Pulmonary stenosis causing right ventricular hypertropy, Cor pumonale, PE, SLE
