ECG Flashcards
What is a sinus arrhythmia
a normal P followed by a QRS however with a irregular rhythm
What is a an atrial premature complex arrhythmia
a P followed by QRST. Irregular rhythm with QRS earlier than expected
What is a ventricular premature complex arrhythmia
P wave is not associated
Irregular rhythm
wide and bizarre
ventricular rhythm
What is atrial fibrillation
no organised activity
no p waves normal
qrs complex
what is super ventricular tachycardia
run of premature atrial complexes
fast heart rate 300 bpm +
P waves no visible
cardiac output increased and collapsed
what is ventricular tachycardia
VPC's a run of 3 + VPC with a heart rate over 180bpm normally uniform and regular often pulse deficit life threatening
What is accelerated idioventricular arrhythmia
VPC’s
normal rate but ventricular rhythm
normal uniform and regular
no treatment required
What is a 1st degree AV block
Prolonged PQ interval
Electrical activity ‘held’ by the AV node for longer
due to high vagal tone
not treated.
What is a 2nd degree AV block
Not all P waves get trhough and the AV node is blocked
What is the morbitz type 1 of AV block
a progressive prolongation of a PQ interval before a block P wave.
What is the morbitz type 2 of AV block
No change in PQ interval
due to a disease of AV node
What is a 3rd degree AV block
No P wave gets through the AV node - all blocked
QRS complexes are ventricular escape beats
Wide and bizarre beats
QRS rates very slow
no medical treatment - needs pacemaker.
