Q

How does Primaxin work?

A

Extremely broad spectrum

Q

Clean minor wound in child <7 vs >7 years old

A

If younger than 7 use DTap and if older use TDAP

If unknown or <3 series give tetanus vaccine, no immunoglobulin.

18
Q

What is the treatment regimen for human bites?

A

Eikenella corrodens most commonly isolated here.

Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanic acid 1000 mg BID) is the tx of choice.

Can also use (Metronidazole 400 mg BID)

19
Q

How is a foreign body vs bite wound treated?

A

Bite wounds need to receive treatment immediately (Augmentin 1000mg BID)

Foreign bodies can be left alone for a few days to observe signs of infection or not.
