anorexia nervosa DSM

A

A. restriction of energy intake, leading to significantly low body weight
B. intense fear of gaining weight or of becoming fat, or persisten behaviour that interferes with weight gain, even though at a significantly low weight
C. Disturbance in the way ones body weight or shape is experienced, undue influence on self-evaluation, persistent lack of recognition of seriousness of the current low weight

bulimia nervosa

A

A. recurrent episodes of binge-eating, with both:
- eating in a discrete period of time (eg. 2 uur) a larger than normal amount of food
- a sense of lack of control over eating during this episode

B. Recurrent inappropriate compensatory behaviours to prevent weigh gain

C. both binges and compensatory behaviours happen at least once a week for 3 months

D. self-evaluation is disproportionately influenced by body shape and weight

E. the disturbance does not occur exclusively during episodes of anorexia nervosa

A

A. recurrent episodes of binge-eating, with both of these:
- eating a larger than normal amount of food in a discrete period of time (eg. 2 uur)
- a sense of lack of control overeating during the episode

B. >3 of these:
- eating more rapidly than normal
- eating until feeling uncomfortably full
- eating when not feeling physically hungry
- eating alone because of feeling embarrassed by how much one is eating
- feeling disgusted, depressed or guilty afterwards

C. marked distress

D. at least once a week for 3 months

E not associated with the recurrent use of inappropriate compensatory behaviurs as in bulimia
