If hypokalaemic from anorexia nervosa, what do you see on ECG?
Widespread āUā waves, QTC 450
What investigations for anorexia nervosa?
ECG
UEC: usu. normal
LFTs: increased cholesteral
FBE: Hb, WCC, Pit, ESR low
What is refeeding syndrome?
Starvation=low CHO intake, lot insulin
Stimulates PO4, K, Mg, into cells, fall in serious concern.
Within 3-4 days of re feeding
May get hypoK, hypo, Mg, sodium retention
Refeeding syndrome complications
Cardiac failure Resp failure Wernickes Sepsis Acute renal failure
