Q

What symbols are there of Easter

A

Palm crosses – crosses made out of palm leaves, used on Palm Sunday to remember Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey when people waved palm branches

Candles – represent that Christ is the light of the world

Paschal candle – a special, large candle that is lit on Easter Sunday and kept lit until Pentecost (50days after Easter); it often has the first and last Greek letters Alpha and Omega on it to show Jesus as being the ‘beginning and the end’ of all things.

Eggs – painted or chocolate – these represent new life (resurrection) – they are hollow like the empty tomb

The Cross – a reminder of the sacrifice Christ made to save humans from sin and offer them salvation.
