- they are used for high-end furniture, decoative woodwork, decks, and flooring (usually more expensive)

- conifer trees that have needles and cones (ceder, fir, pine, spruce, larch, redwood) are fast growing
- they are used for building, furniture, exterior cladding, doors (usually cheaper)
