Earth Science Flashcards
The extent of a surface or plane figure as measured in square units
Area
A wide, cylindrical glass container with a pouring lip, used especially in labortories.
Beaker
A sheet exhibiting information in tabular form.
Chart
The boundry of a circle
Circumference
A plural of datum
Data
A measure of the quantity of some physical property (usually mass) per unit length, area, or volume
Density
A straight line segment that passes through the center of a circle or sphere from one side to the other
Diameter
The weight or volume of a fluid displaced by a floating body, used especialy as a measurement of the weight or bulk ships
Displacement
A statement that explains or makes generalizations about a set of facts or principles, usually forming a basis for possible experiments to confirm its viability
Hypothesis
A narrow, cylindrical container marked with horizontal lines to represent units of measurement and used to precisely measure the volume of liquids
Graduated cylinder
A diagram showing the relationship of quantities, especially such a diagram in which lines, bars, or changes with another
Graph
The longest extent of anything as measured from end to end
Length
A measure of the amount of matter contained in or constituting a physical body
Mass
To see, watch, perceive, or notice
Observing
The sum of lengths of the segments that form the sides of a polygon
Perimeter
The investigation of hatural Phenomena through observation, theoretical explanation and experimentation, or the knowledge produced by a such investigation
Science
A method of research in which a problem is identified, relevant data are gathered, a hypothesis is formuated especially one that is allowed to change in a scientific experiment
Scientific Method
A factor or condition that is subject to change, especially one that is allowed to change in a scientific experiment to test a hypothesis
Variable
The amount of space occupied by a three-dimensional object or rejoin of space
Volume
The force with which an object near the Earth or another celestial body is attracted toward the center of the body by gravity.
Weight
