Earth's subsystem Flashcards
Thin, gaseous layer that surrounds Earth.
Atmosphere
Includes the rock, minerals, geological landscape, and the entire rocky composition of Earth
Lithosphere
Movement of “plates” that causes geological events in the surface.
Plate Tectonics
All life forms of Earth, from microscopic life to the bustling cities of Humanity.
Biosphere
Composed of all water bodies in the entire planet. 3% is freshwater and 97% saltwater.
Hydrosphere.
Contains the solid form of water around the world.
Cryosphere
A hypothesis where biological processes are self-sustaining and independent.
Gaia Hypothesis.
Exchange of carbon around the subsystems of Earth.
Carbon Cycle.
Processes of turning sunlight and water into food within plants and a process of producing oxygen
Photosynthesis
Loose particles of rocks in the earth’s surface.
