Earth recourses Flashcards
A recourse
A recourse is anything that can satisfy needs for an organism
Made resources
Resources that have been processed by humans
Renewable resources
Resources that are replaced at the same rate they are used or faster
Non-renewable resources
Resources that are used up at a rate greater than they are replaced
what makes organisms sustainable
Sustainable (Plants use waste materials from animals
Some animals rely on others for survival
We use animals for food and clothing
Renewable as living things are replaced at a rate faster than they die)
what is sunlight used for
Renewable (Used by plants as energy
Provides warmth and energy for the Earth
It is renewable as the amount we use does not affect its supply)
what is water used for
Renewable (Covers most of Earth’s surface
All organisms need water to survive
Water is renewable as it is easily recycled on its own)
are Rocks renewable and what is it used for
Non-renewable (Used in building materials and roads
Also contain minerals necessary for healthy growth)
is Soil renewable and what is it made out of
Non-renewable (Made up of fine rock particles, living organisms, decayed organisms, water and dissolved gases and minerals
Used for growth of plants)
what are some ways of Conserving resources
As some resources are not renewable, they must be conserved by:
Limiting consumption
Alternate resources
Recycling
