yes, and no , they did alot of the mens jobs but mostly did the household jobs and left the men to the killing and hunting
what did railroad companies do to get people to move west?

a cheap journey west
temporary accommodation in hotels until houses were built
churches, schools and no taxes for five years
what was the problem with farming in the west?
hard soil to grow crops on
they ould not afford ploughs
what was the problem with droughts?
very hot summers hardened up the ground even more
caused fires

what was the problem with building houses?
there was little wood to make cabins
isolation was a big problem, why?
dirt and disease was common, v unhealthy place to live, no sanitisation

and houses v far apart from eachother
