Q

The Great Mosque Qayrawan (Tunisia)

A

Rectilinear, minaret, open courtyard. Many arches. Two domes punctuate the ends of the axis, so long central axis. In North African architecture, we see this T plan. Synthesising other early Islamic architecture. Aghlabads made a visual connection between Iraq (Bagdad) and this dynasty. Putting this Minaret on its central axis for example. This form comes from antiquity.
