What was the renaissance?
A period of cultural flourishing in Late medievel Europe. Between 14th and 18th centuries. There were advances in science, tech, politics, marriage, exploration and trade

Set out on a voyage August 1492 to find an alternative route to India through the Atlantic Ocean.
What was the printing press?
The printing press was invented in 1445 by Guttenburg. Previously, books had only been available to the rich and upper class, who were usually priests. After the printing press, books could be made cheaply and with little effort meaning the middle class could now afford them. People demanded books in more genres and books in astronomy started to contradict the church’s sayings, making the printing press a threat to the church
When was the reformation?
In the 16th century, it was when christians in britain split into 2 groups, catholic and protestants
Why were people angry with the church?
. People feared the Church had too much money and priests, monks, popes lived in luxury whilst the poor suffered
. People couldn’t understand the church services as they were normally held in latin and people found it hard to feel close to God if they couln’t understand what was being said
. Poor people couldn’t afford indulgences
. The priests didn’t lead a holy life and weren’t setting a good example
What were the consequences of the witch craze?
Innocenct women were accused of witchcraft as people couldn’t understand why bad things happened. Witch hunters like Matthew Hopkins were paid by how many witches they found, meaning people would accuse innocent people to get more money. People would accyse their naighbours of witchcraft to get their hands on their land. Witches were stereotypically said to live alone, have an animal to do their bidding (usually a cat) and have birthmarks or warts.
