Q

What happens in stage 1?

A
  • From birth until about 2 months old infants produce similar responses to all objects (animate and inanimate)
  • Towards the end of this period infants begin to show a greater preference for social stimuli (smiling and being around people)
  • During this time reciprocity and interactional synchrony play apart in the infant forming relationships with others
