• Can warm drops in hand first for comfort

• oil based
• 5 drops into affected ear, leave for few mins, BD for a few days
• Can warm drops in hand first for comfort
• C/I in penut allergy

Pregnancy: Docusate or Dichlorobenzene + Chlorbutul

Otitis Externa

REFER - need Abx

to prevent:

Acetic acid + Isopropyl alcohol

• Aquaear
• 3-4 drops each ear after swimming/bathing
• drying/antiseptic agent

Pregs: Aquaear (acetic acid+isopropyl alcohol) okay

Sore Throat

Paracetamol or Ibuprofen

Benzydamine

• Difflam
• anti-inflammatory
• lozenge: 1 q1-2h prn (max12)
• spray: 4 sprays q1.5-3h prn
• solution: 15mL gargled 30 seconds q1.5-3h prn (ensure spit out)

Strepsil lozenges

• antibact + anaesthetic
• 1 q2h prn (max 8)

Betadine throat gargle

Preg: ?

Diabetic: Ensure sugar free

120mg in 1-2 doses

kids >6 months-2yrs: 15mg BD

kids 2-11yrs 30mg BD

Diphenhydramine

• 2mg qid
• kids 2-6yrs: .04mg/kg tds
• kids 6-12yrs: 1mg qid
• sedating
• Polaramine

Pregs: Diphenhydramine (- occasionally)
