- apply w. paintbrush
leave on for 24 hours
wash off - dilute for under 12yo

- Apply regularly

Psoriasis
Moisturisers/Emollients (soft paraffin, lanolin)
- Dermaveen, QV
- Apply regularly
Soap-free washes
- Dermaveen, QV
Corticosteroids
- Hydrocortisone cream 1%
- BD-QID, reduce as condition improves
Coal tar
- BD
- can stain and smell
- remove before exposure to sun
Pregs: hydrocortisone, moisturisers safe
Fungal skin infections
Clotrimazole 1%
- BD-TDS until 2 weeks after symptoms

Miconazole 2%
- BD-TDS until 2 weeks after symptoms
- cream, lotion, powder
Terbinafine 1%
- once daily for 1-2weeks (jock itch) 2-4 weeks (athletes foot)

Fungal nail
Amorolfine
- Loceryl nail lacquer
- Once weekly
- 6 months (fingers)
12 months (toes) - File down
clean surface
paint entire surface
3-5mins to dry
do not let in contact with skin - Cont until nails completely cured and regrown
Ciclopirox
- Rejuvenail
- Once daily
6-12 months
on surface of nails + 5mm surrounding + under free nail edge
Pregs: avoid use of any
Acne
Benzoyl peroxide
- 2.5%, 5%, 10%
- OD-BD
- start at lower strengths
- takes 8-12 weeks for benefit
- can cause irritation, worsen before better, bleach
Azelaic acid
- Finacea gel 15%, Azclear lotion 20%
- BD
- Can cause hypopigmentation
- Improvement in 4-6 weeks
Soap free face wash
Pregs: benzoyl peroxide

- 15mg/kg for kids

Warts
Duofilm Gel
- salicylic acid 27%
- soak and file first
- apply once at night
- no contact with good skin
- tx up to 3 months
Wartner
- dimethyl ether, propane
- hold applicator to lesion for 20 seconds
- Can rpt after 15 days
- max use 3 times
Preg: poss salicylic acid? use of sal ac in preg unestablished, maybe just use soak and file method - warts are self lim in 6 months -5 yrs. Refer instead?
Corns/calluses
Scholl corn pads
- salicylic acid medicated disc
- ensure disc is in cover
- place over corn daily
Duofilm liquid
- Salicylic acid/lactic acid
- 1-2 times daily until clear (max 2weeks)
Pregs: salicylic acid?
Dandruff
Ketoconazole 1%, 2%
- Nizoral shampoo
- applyto wet hair, lather
leave for 5 mins
rinse thoroughly - use 2-3 times/week until clear
- Use once/week-2 weeks for proph
Zinc pyrithione
- Head and shoulders shampoo
- apply to wet hair, lather
leave for 5 minutes
rinse thoroughly - use 2-3 times / week until clear
- then once/week for proph
Pregs: zinc pyrithione
Sunburn
Solugel
- amorphous hydrogel
- liberally prn
- store infridge for extra relief
SOOV burn spray
- cetrimide, lignocaine, phenoxyethanol
- apply 10cm away QID prn
Use sunscreen 50+
Hair loss
Minoxidil
- Rogaine 20mg/ml and 50mg/ml
- 1ml BD where growthrequired
apply to clean, dry scalp
do not wash for 4 hours - no hair dryer
- contin tx required
- response may not be seen for 4 months
- can cause skin irritation (use lower strenght if case)
- incre shedding when first starting
- no benefit seen where there is no hair
- Can cause unwanted hair growth above eyebrows/on cheeks
- Do not wear hat/wig for 1 hour after tx
Shingles
REFER FOR ANTIVIRALS
Rest and fluids
cover lesions with non-adherent dressing
oral Analgesia (para, aspirin)
lignocaine ointment 3-4x daily
topical capsaicin (Zostrix crm) 3-4x daily
