(E) Electrical Safety Precautions Flashcards
1
Q
About Human Body
A
- Body Resistance 1 kilo-ohm to 500 kilo-ohm
- 5 mA is the highest current safe for the average body
- 12m mA muscles will contract
- 25 mA is known to be fatal
2
Q
High Voltage Precaution
A
- Tools and equipment containing exposed metal parts should not be used in any area within 4 feet
- Do not wear loose or flapping clothing
- Do not use thin soled shoes with metal plates
- Before touching a capacitor, short-circuit the terminal to ensure it is completely discharged
- Using one hand is not an electrical hand
3
Q
Low Voltage
A
BEWARE of voltage greater than 15 V
4
Q
Electrical Fire
A
- Cut off the electrical supply to the fire zone
- Call fire department
- To combat electrical fire, use a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher
5
Q
Battery Safety Precaution
A
- Danger of acid burn while refilling, topping up
- Danger of explosion due to short circuit while batteries are being charged
- Hydrogen gas due to charging - highly explosive
- Ensure adequate ventilation
6
Q
RADAR Ground Safety
A
- Keep antenna scan sector clear of large metallic objects
- Tilt dish upwards
- Do not operate RADAR during refueling ops
- Do not operate RADAR if personnel are within the safety zone
- Set up cordons and warning signs
