Rare- up to 8x normal LDL levels

  • absent/ defective surface cell receptors for LDL molecule-> unregulated synthesis of LDL.
  • May require liver transplant.

  • Rare- abnormality of lipoprotein lipase

- Marked hypertriglyceremia, pancreatitis and hepatosplenomegaly
