Hypothyroidism, pregnancy, obesity, polycystic
ovarian syndrome (PCOS), uncontrolled diabetes,
liver disease, and chronic kidney disease-
Metabolic syndrome
1- Waist circumfernce ≥102 cm in men ≥88 cm in women
2-High triglyceride level ≥150 mg/dl
3- low HDL ≤40 mg/dl in men ≤50 mg/dl in women
4- Increased blood pressure ≥130/85 mmHg
5- Elevated fasting glucose ≥100 mg/d
Symptoms of ASCVD:
Chest pain, and shortness of breath
* Laboratory Tests:
Ø ↑ total cholesterol
Ø ↑ LDL
Ø ↑ TGs
Ø ↑ apolipoprotein B
Ø ↑ hsCRP
Ø ↓ HDL
- High-Risk Conditions
- Age ≥65 y
- Heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia
- History of prior coronary artery bypass surgery
or percutaneous coronary intervention outside of the major ASCVD events) - Diabetes
- Hypertension
- CKD (eGFR 15-59 mL/min/1.73 m2)
- Current smoking
- Persistently elevated LDL-C (LDL-C ≥100 mg/dL [≥2.6 mmol/L]) despite maximally tolerated statin therapy and ezetimibe
- History of congestive HF
- Major ASCVD Events
- Recent ACS (within the past 12 months)
- History of MI (other than recent ACS event listed above)
- History of ischemic stroke
- Symptomatic PAD (history of claudication with ABl <0.85 or previous revascularization or amputation)
- Diabetes-Specific Risk Enhancers:
- Long duration (≥10 years for type 2 diabetes or ≥20 years for type 1 diabetes)
- Albuminuria ≥30 mcg of albumin/mg creatinine
- eGFR <60 mL/min
- Retinopathy
- Neuropathy
- ankle-brachial index (ABI) <0.9
