DVLA Rules - Group 1 - Epilepsy or multiple unprovoked seizures?
Must not drive and inform DVLA
If seizure-free for >5 years (with meds) then restored
DVLA Rules - Group 2 - Epilepsy or multiple unprovoked seizures?
Must not drive and inform DVLA
If seizure-free for 10 years (without epilepsy medications) considered
DVLA Rules - Group 1 - First unprovoked seizure/isolated seizure?
Must not drive and inform DVLA
No driving for 6 months from date of seizure
DVLA Rules - Group 2 - First unprovoked seizure/isolated seizure?
Must not drive and inform DVLA
No driving for 5 years from date - restored after neurologist assessment and annual risk <2%
DVLA Rules - Group 1 - secondary cause of seizure?
Must not drive and inform DVLA
Exempt if following acute head injury/intracranial surgery
If venous thrombosis - must be 6 months without seizure
DVLA Rules - Group 2 - secondary cause of seizure?
Must not drive and inform DVLA
If following acute head injury - Annual risk must be <2%
DVLA Rules - Group 1 - withdrawing off epilepsy medications?
Seizure-free for 1 year and 6 months after last dose
DVLA Rules - Group 2 - withdrawing off epilepsy medications?
Seizure-free for 10 years, no meds during that time
DVLA Rules - Group 1 & 2 - typical vasovagal syncope with prodrome while sitting?
Do not drive for 1 month (3 months if group 2)
DVLA Rules - Group 1 & 2 - Syncope with avoidable trigger or reversible cause?
Do not drive for 4 weeks (3 months for group 2)
Only restart if cause found, if not then notify DVLA
DVLA Rules - Group 1 - unexplained syncope?
Do not drive and notify DVLA
If no cause identified, license revoked for 12 months
DVLA Rules - Group 2 - unexplained syncope?
Do not drive and notify DVLA
If no cause identified, license revoked for 10 years
DVLA Rules - Group 1 - CV syncope?
Do not drive and notify DVLA
If cause found - restart 4 weeks
If no cause found - 6 months
DVLA Rules - Group 2 - CV syncope?
Do not drive and notify DVLA
If cause found - restart 3 months
If no cause found - 12 months
DVLA Rules - Group 1 - Stroke?
Do not drive, notify DVLA
Resume after 1 months
DVLA Rules - Group 2 - Stroke?
Do not drive, notify DVLA
Resume after 1 year
DVLA Rules - Group 1 - Single TIA?
Do not drive for 1 month

Do not drive, notify DVLA
