- make sure the meeting is set up and run according to the rules of the organisation
- make sure that they are completely familiar with the organisations Standing Orders (rules of running a meeting) in case there is a dispute about procedure
- must liaise with admin assistant to ensure the previous minutes are a correct record

A
- start the meeting punctually
- sign the previous minutes as a correct record once all members of the committee present at the meeting have agreed
- work consistently through the agenda clearly explaining the item being discussed
- ensure that everyone has the opportunity to speak and that discussion is kept to the point
- decide when the discussion has gone on long enough and sum up conclusions in an unbiased manner
- close or adjourn meeting formally

- take any appropriate follow-up action required, as agreed
- liaise with admin assistant regarding preparation of draft of the minutes and next agenda
